Lottie has worked on several projects for Big Star Copywriting. She produced excellent copy quickly and on brief. My only hesitation in recommending her is that she might not be available to work on our projects!

Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions. Contact me to find out more about how I can help you find the right words.

What is a freelance copywriter?

A freelance copywriter is someone who writes copy. ‘Copy’ is any promotional literature that involves the written word. If I were to describe my job, I would say that I use the English language to persuade readers to take action.

Most copywriters either work in advertising or in marketing. An advertising copywriter is responsible for short-form copy, such as slogans, strap-lines, scripts and jingles. A marketing copywriter is responsible for longer forms of content, such as web copy, white papers and email marketing campaigns.

Is a freelance copywriter the same as a freelance content writer?

A freelance copywriter is not quite the same as a freelance content writer. The main difference is that a copywriter aims to sell, whereas a content writer aims to inform. However, there is significant overlap between the two. Many marketing copywriters are also content writers – and I’m one of them. In fact, I previously worked as a content writer for a large corporation in the UK.

So, not only am I a copywriter, I’m also a content writer. I can help with all your content marketing needs, including blogs and newsletters.

Why hire a copywriter or content writer?

If you are launching a website or writing a how-to guide for your customers, you might wonder – why bother to hire a copywriter or content writer? Surely you can just write it yourself? Yes, you can. In the same way you can represent yourself in court or pull your own tooth out with a piece of string. The point is that copywriters and content writers are experts in their field. As such, they will produce much better results than you (no offence).

Hiring a copywriter also means you can hand over the work to someone else, leaving you free to get on with other tasks, such as running your business.

Are your clients local?

Not always. For most of the year I live in North Vancouver, Canada, but regularly return to the UK. Most of my clients are in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and British Columbia. I've also worked with companies further afield. I communicate with clients over the phone, by email and by video conferencing. So, it really doesn’t matter where you live or where your business operates, I can help you.

What copywriting services do you offer?

I specialise in long-form copywriting and content writing. This includes web copy, blog/article writing, newsletters, guides, profiles and listings. As a punctuation pedant and grammar guru, I’ll also happily edit and proofread copy. Find out more about my copywriting services.

What are your freelance copywriting rates?

My freelance copywriting rates are competitive and affordable. I cannot tell you right here, right now what I’ll charge – I need to know what your copywriting requirements are first. Tell me a bit about your project and I’ll give you a free, no obligation quote.
